Facebook Reminder
One of the great features of Facebook is the birthday reminder that tells you the upcoming birthdays of your FB friends.
Today Facebook has reminded me that Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum is celebrating his birthday this Wednesday, the 15th July.
Turning Sixty
Even though Facebook does not list the year of his birth, Wikipedia (which lists his birthday as 22 July) indicates that the Sheikh was born in 1949 and will therefore be celebrating this year his 60th birthday.
Gifts Fit for a Sheikh
Despite the Sheikh’s intention of moving his personal Facebook account to a ‘public page’, this is not stopping his FB friends from showering him with one of Facebook's 379 gifts—icons of balloons, cakes, red roses and diamonds etc.
Probably the glass of beer or bottle of champagne are not suitable gifts to give publicly to a Muslim leader.
Many have simply written in Arabic and English heartfelt expressions of congratulations and best wishes.
Send a Birthday Greeting
Whether or not you are an official Facebook Friend of the Sheikh, you can still send a message to him via Facebook at this link.
