Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum Purchases New Horses in Kentucky

On Monday 3 November 2008 Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, advanced his horse racing interests with the acquisition of some new horses, the most expensive of which was the purchase of Hystericalady at a cost of $3 million.

Bred in Kentucky, Hystericalady has won seven graded stakes and won 10 times on different tracks, earning nearly $2.4 million on the racetrack.

The Sheikh also paid US$2.5 million for a mare carrying a full sibling to Kentucky Derby runner-up Eight Belles. Away, a Dixieland Band mare believed to again be pregnant to Eight Belles' sire, Unbridled's Song, was the most famous of the horses that went through the ring.
